## The ten-second version

**Is it free?** Yes — the binary preview installs through a public Homebrew tap at no cost.

**Do I need a Mac?** Yes — macOS 26.0 or later, Apple Silicon. There is no Windows or Linux build.

**Can I use it instead of Resolume?** It follows a similar workflow — bank/layer/clip matrix, per-scope
effects, tempo sync — but it is an **independent implementation**, does not promise full file or plug-in compatibility. Read
[Limitations](../reference/limitations.md) before planning a show around it.

**Where did my set go?** `~/Library/Application Support/ULTIMATEVJ/`, plus an autosave every 30 seconds.

**Why is there no sound?** File audio is **off by default**.

**Why did my video not load?** The decoder refuses to guess colour data it cannot verify. See
